Ann's Heart Summer Meal Program
Clean-Up, Hot, and Cold Shifts
Thank you for helping us serve our community!
Each shift plays a unique role in getting meals to our students and families:
Clean-Up Crew: A clean and organized kitchen is the foundation of everything we do! As part of our cleanup crew, you'll wash and sanitize dishes and surfaces, and help us maintain our workspace! This may not seem like it's in the spotlight, but this crew is absolutely essential to everything we do. Behind every meal served to a family is a team member who cared enough to ensure it was prepared in a clean, safe, and welcoming space. Your attention to detail shows families that we respect them and the nutrition we're providing. No special skills required. We will train you on everything you need to know!
Hot Shift: This shift focuses on preparing hot dinners and side dishes (and sometimes breakfasts and lunches) for Phoenixville Area School District students and their families. Expect hands-on cooking tasks like chopping, prepping, and portioning in a fast-paced kitchen environment. A great fit for volunteers who are comfortable in a kitchen and ready to move!
Cold Shift: This shift focuses on preparing and assembling grab-and-go breakfasts, lunches, and snacks for PASD students. Tasks typically include washing and processing fresh produce and following assembly-style recipes to pack meals. Little to no cooking involved, making it a great option for volunteers of all experience levels.
Every great meal ends with a clean kitchen! As part of all shifts, volunteers will help with wrap-up activities including light clean-up, dishes, trash and recycling, and washing and sanitizing surfaces.
